Geneo is a generative engine optimization platform that tracks how AI answers mention your brand and sells that tracking in credits. Which alternative fits depends on the engines your buyers use and on how you want to pay. Below we compare eight tools on engines, price and how you start, with Geneo as the baseline.
Fair-comparison note:
What Geneo sells
Geneo’s pricing page, read October 8, 2026, splits into a brand side and an agency side. The brand side has three ways in:
- Free Trial, $0: 50 trial credits and one workspace, monitoring ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Geneo’s FAQ on the same page calls this its free plan and says no credit card is required.
- Pro, $39.90 a month: 1,000 credits a month, every AI platform Geneo supports, competitor analysis, historical data and what Geneo calls GEO optimization.
- Pay as you go: no monthly fee. Credit packs run from $50 for 1,000 credits to $900 for 30,000, up to 40% off at volume, and credits stay valid for 12 months.
The agency side is where Geneo stands apart from most trackers. Agency Starter is $129 a month for 5,000 credits and 5 client seats, Agency Growth $249 for 15,000 credits and 15 seats, and Agency Scale $499 for 50,000 credits and unlimited client seats, each with white-label branding, a custom domain and a client portal. Geneo’s FAQ says it monitors rankings and sentiment on every engine it tracks, and its compare table lists unlimited history retention on every plan.
The engine list is short. The page names four engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. Claude, Grok, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot are not named. The plan cards list credits rather than prompts, and the page does not say how many credits one prompt on one engine uses.
Why buyers compare it
Three things on Geneo’s pricing page send buyers looking:
- Four engines, none of them Claude, Grok, Google AI Mode or Copilot. A buyer who asks any of those is not tracked, whatever the plan.
- Credits hide the prompt count. Without a per-prompt rate, the real monthly coverage of Pro’s 1,000 credits is hard to work out before you sign up.
- The Free Trial plan lists three engines. Gemini, which the page names in its header and FAQ, is not on the Free Trial plan’s list.
How we chose these eight
Each tool had to pass three tests, with Geneo kept as the baseline rather than counted as an entry:
- It tracks AI answers for prompts you choose, recording whether engines mention or cite your brand and which rivals they name instead. Content writers and keyword rank trackers without an AI tracker were left out.
- You can start without a sales call: a published price plus a free tier, a trial or a plan bought online, the same way Geneo lets you in.
- Every fact is the vendor’s own, and dated. Geneo from its pricing page, October 8, 2026. Otterly.ai’s Lite plan and LLMrefs from their pricing pages, October 7, 2026. Knowatoa, October 2. Peec AI’s sentiment reporting, October 5. Otterly.ai’s add-ons, Omnia, Peec AI’s plans, Rankscale and AthenaHQ from each vendor’s pricing page, October 1, 2026. A dash means the vendor does not say.
Cituna comes first because it is ours. The other seven follow in order of their lowest paid monthly plan, with Omnia’s euro price placed beside LLMrefs’ dollar one. The numbers help you find an entry; they are not a ranking.

The 8 best Geneo alternatives in detail
1. Cituna (best for seven engines daily, with the fixes written)
Cituna asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode your buyers’ questions every day, on every plan, and records whether each answer names you, where you sit among the brands it lists, which of your pages it cites and which rivals it recommends. Where a rival wins, Cituna writes the fix: structured data, FAQ markup, an llms.txt entry or an edit to the page. AutoSEO writes 30 articles a month on Starter, 90 on Pro and 300 on Max, held as drafts by default or published to WordPress, Shopify, a GitHub repository or any CMS by webhook, and the built-in Search Console connection lets you check each change against real clicks. There are no credits to budget: 10 prompts on seven engines every day is 2,100 answers a month on Starter. API keys work on every paid plan; MCP read access comes with Starter and MCP write access with Pro.
- Best for: a brand or growing team whose buyers use Claude, Grok or AI Mode, and that wants the gap fixed, not only measured.
- What it costs: Starter $39 a month (one brand, 10 prompts), Pro $119 (three brands, 30 prompts, five seats), Max $399 (ten brands, 90 prompts, 15 seats), all seven engines on each. Every tier is on the pricing page.
- Where it falls short against Geneo: no white-label client portal or custom domain for agencies, no sentiment score, no pay-as-you-go option and no Microsoft Copilot. Geneo’s Free Trial plan needs no card; Cituna’s trial asks for one.
2. Otterly.ai (best for Microsoft Copilot on a small prompt set)
Otterly.ai’s Lite plan is $29 a month for 15 prompts tracked daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with unlimited team members (otterly.ai/pricing, October 7, 2026). On October 1, 2026, Otterly.ai priced Gemini and Google AI Mode as $9-a-month add-ons on Lite and Claude at $29, and Otterly.ai offered no Grok. Otterly.ai’s API and MCP access start on its $189 Standard plan.
- Best for: a Geneo user whose buyers live in Microsoft’s ecosystem, since Copilot is on Otterly.ai’s first plan and not named by Geneo.
- What it costs: Otterly.ai is $29, $189 or $489 a month (October 1, 2026).
- Where it falls short: 15 prompts on Lite, engine add-ons that stack up, and no Grok. See Otterly.ai alternatives.
3. Knowatoa (best for many sites sharing one question limit)
Knowatoa’s $59 Starter covers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, with competitor, citation and sentiment analysis. Knowatoa Growth, at $199, opens all seven services Knowatoa monitors (its site menu lists ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Meta AI, AI Overviews and AI Mode) and adds the API, an MCP server and Looker Studio. Knowatoa lets any number of sites share one account’s question limit (knowatoa.com/pricing, October 2, 2026).
- Best for: an operator running many small sites who wants AI Mode in the mix.
- What it costs: Knowatoa is $59 or $199 a month; annual pricing is mentioned but not printed.
- Where it falls short: the question limits are not published, the $59 Knowatoa plan leaves out Perplexity and Gemini, and Grok is not offered. See Knowatoa alternatives.
4. LLMrefs (best for eleven engines on one flat fee)
LLMrefs sells one flat plan. On October 7, 2026, the LLMrefs All in One plan was $79 a month, marked “limited time only”, for 500 prompts across eleven engines with Claude, Grok, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, Meta AI and DeepSeek among them, unlimited team members and projects, CSV export, API access and a 7-day free trial (llmrefs.com/pricing). LLMrefs results refresh at least once a week.
- Best for: a team that wants the widest engine list for one fee and does not need yesterday’s answers.
- What it costs: LLMrefs is $79 a month.
- Where it falls short: weekly rather than daily data, and positions without fixes. See LLMrefs alternatives.
5. Omnia (best for an AI agent with read and write MCP)
Omnia’s Growth plan is €79 a month, or €63 a month billed yearly, for 25 prompts tracked daily and 150 credits on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews. Omnia offers Claude, Gemini and Copilot on request, and Omnia’s MCP access can both read and write. Omnia’s exports begin on the €279 Pro plan, and the 14-day Omnia trial needs no card (useomnia.com/pricing, October 1, 2026).
- Best for: a team that wants an AI agent to pull the data and act on it, on a small plan.
- What it costs: Omnia is €79 or €279 a month.
- Where it falls short: 25 prompts is a small pool, Gemini is on request rather than included, and Grok is not offered. See Omnia alternatives.
6. Peec AI (best for analytics on three models you choose)
Peec AI tracks visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice daily against named competitors (peec.ai/pricing, read October 5, 2026). Peec AI’s Starter is $95 a month, or $80 billed annually, for 50 prompts on three models you choose from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI, with unlimited users. Peec AI’s Pro ($245) and Advanced ($495) lift prompts to 150 and 350, and Claude and Grok are on Peec AI’s Enterprise plan (October 1, 2026).
- Best for: a marketing team that reports tone and competitor benchmarks to leadership on a short list of models.
- What it costs: Peec AI is $95, $245 or $495 a month; Enterprise is custom.
- Where it falls short: three models per self-serve plan, one fewer than Geneo’s four. See Cituna vs Peec AI.
7. Rankscale (best for credits with published per-engine rates)
Rankscale is the closest entry here to Geneo’s credit model, with the rates published. Rankscale Pro costs $99 a month for 1,200 credits, up to 4,800 AI answers, and each prompt can run hourly, daily, weekly or monthly. Rankscale’s engines include ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews, and Rankscale lists Grok among them. A ChatGPT run costs 0.25 credits and a Claude run 2. Rankscale Pro includes MCP and a 7-day trial, Rankscale Pro+ at $229 adds the REST API, and yearly billing saves 15% (rankscale.ai/pricing, October 1, 2026).
- Best for: a Geneo user who likes paying for usage but wants published per-engine rates and a cadence per prompt.
- What it costs: Rankscale is $99 or $229 a month; Rankscale’s Essentials plan is sold yearly only, at $204.
- Where it falls short: the bill still depends on your engine mix, and a Claude run uses eight times the credits of a ChatGPT run. See Rankscale alternatives.
8. AthenaHQ (best for a free tier, then eleven models)
AthenaHQ’s free Essential tier gives 300 credits on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, with unlimited members. AthenaHQ’s Starter, at $295 a month, buys 3,600 credits, one per AI response, across eleven named models, adding Google AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral, and connects GA4 and Search Console. AthenaHQ’s yearly billing is 17% off, and the AthenaHQ API is a paid add-on (athenahq.ai/plans, October 1, 2026).
- Best for: a team that wants to try a credit-based tracker free, as Geneo allows, and later needs eleven models in one place.
- What it costs: AthenaHQ is free, then $295 a month; Enterprise is custom.
- Where it falls short: there is no AthenaHQ plan between free and $295, and wider coverage spends the credit pool faster. See AthenaHQ alternatives.
Which Geneo alternative fits you
Start from the engines. If your buyers ask Claude, Grok or Google AI Mode, Geneo’s pricing page does not name them. Cituna, Rankscale and LLMrefs cover all three from the first paid plan, LLMrefs on a weekly refresh, and AthenaHQ adds all three on its paid Starter. If Microsoft Copilot matters most, Otterly.ai, LLMrefs, Rankscale and AthenaHQ name it, Peec AI lets you choose it as one of three models, and Omnia offers it on request.
Then decide how you want to pay. If you like Geneo’s credits, Rankscale and AthenaHQ work the same way, and Rankscale publishes what each engine costs. If you would rather know the bill and the coverage in advance, the flat plans are Cituna, Otterly.ai, Knowatoa, LLMrefs, Omnia and Peec AI. Agencies weighing Geneo’s white-label plans can see how Cituna works for agencies, and every tool’s entry price sits side by side in our AI visibility tool pricing comparison.
One way to test: write 20 buyer questions, run them on two trials for three days, and compare the raw answers rather than the scores. Which brands were named, which pages were cited, and how much of the plan did the test use?
