Search Console tells you what people type into Google and where you rank for it. Cituna tells you what AI engines answer and whether they cite you. Joined together they answer the question neither can alone: which queries you already rank for on Google while staying invisible in AI answers. That list is the shortest path to work worth doing, because it is demand you have already proven exists. The connection is read-only, takes one sign-in, and requires no tag, no script and no change to your site. It also feeds the daily buyer questions AutoSEO writes from, so connecting it makes every downstream feature sharper.
1. Pick the right Google account before you start
This is the step that decides whether the rest works. Cituna matches each brand to its Search Console property by domain, so the account you connect must be one where that exact domain is a verified property.
Connecting a different Google account succeeds, shows a green Connected badge, and then reads empty forever, which looks like a broken integration but is simply an account with no data for your domain.
2. Click Connect Google Search Console
In Cituna, open Integrations and find the Google Search Console card, then click Connect. Sign in with the account you identified in step one.
3. Approve read-only access
Google asks for read-only Search Console access. That is the only permission requested: Cituna cannot submit sitemaps, request indexing, or change anything in your property.
4. Select the brand and let the data load
Pick the brand in the switcher at the top of the app. Its property is matched by domain, so nothing else needs configuring.
Data appears within about a minute: real clicks, impressions, CTR and average position, joined to your tracked prompts and keyword verdicts.
5. Read the joined view, not the raw numbers
Open the Search Console tab for the raw performance, then the Keywords tab for the join that matters: queries with real impressions where you have no page in the top 20, and queries you rank for that no AI engine cites you on.
Those two lists are your content queue. AutoSEO can write from them directly.
Troubleshooting
It says connected but there are no impressions.
Either the connected Google account has no verified property for this domain, which is the common case, or the property genuinely has no impressions in the last 28 days. Cituna states which of the two it is rather than showing an empty chart. Disconnect and reconnect with the right account to fix the first.
My property is a domain property and Cituna tracks a subdomain (or vice versa).
Matching is by domain, so a domain-level property covers its subdomains. If you verified only https://www.example.com as a URL-prefix property but track example.com, add the domain property in Search Console and reconnect.
Is any of my Google data shared with the AI engines you check?
No. Search Console data is read into your workspace and used to pick topics and join reporting. Prompts sent to answer engines are the buyer questions you track, never your query data.
How do I revoke access?
Disconnect on the same card in Integrations. It takes effect immediately and also cuts off Search Console data to Claude through MCP. You can additionally revoke Cituna from your Google account permissions page.
